Upright bass, plastered pompadours and a charisma that floated above people’s heads, we give you the HorrorPops. Originally from Denmark, but transplanted to Los Angeles Patricia Day, Kim Nekroman and Henrik Biedermeier, the psychobilly, punk band share their deeper thoughts.

SC: What’s the difference between fans from Europe and fans in America?
Patricia: Hormones!
Kim: Hormones? I don’t know if there is a difference, but what I do see is that people are younger over here. The average age is way younger than in Europe. Everybody’s happy no matter where we are in the world.
Patricia: American bands are way younger than bands in Europe.

SC: Are you guys familiar with Under Byen?
Kim: Who?
Henrik: Ah! Under Byen. They started after we moved to America, I haven’t really heard it, but I know they got great reviews from Rolling Stone and I know that it’s kind of electronic.
Kim: I’m happy for any band who makes it…
Henrik: Who makes it out of that shit hole.

SC: You have dancers on stage – would you say that it’s more cabaret or more Go-Go?
Henrik: It’s a little of both, I’d say.
Patricia: They’re more like cheerleaders. If you’ve ever seen a Horrorpops show, they don’t dance, they’re like showing the crowd what to do and how to go crazy.
Kim: On the Warped Tour we didn’t bring the dancers out - simply because it’s a short set and because it’s so hot.
Patricia: Last time we did the Warped they passed out. What they do is extremely physical. And it’s not a good health thing.
Henrik: They do what you’d call the “extreme sports.”

SC: Fourteen years ago is when the first Warped Tour started – where were you then?
Kim: Back then we were in Denmark. I played in Nekromantix, I still do. Were you guys done with…?
Henrik: I was still in Strawberry Slaughterhouse. And you were in…
Patricia: Peanut Pump Gun. So we were all touring back then, just not together.

SC: If weren’t all awesome rockstars, what would be your dream jobs?
Henrik: I would be sitting in a dark studio. Just looking at computer screens, making music.
Patricia: Street bum.
Kim: If I wasn’t awesome rockstart, I would be a tragic rock star.
