As they took to the stage, the band had murder in their eyes. A calm, expressionless mask that soon ratcheted up to 10 and then they stalked the crowd for the rest of the show. There was a new tune called “Milkshake” that rattled some bones and a few moments where things got so scuzzy it was like a wave of heavy cream and liquor mixing, slowly pushing itself into existence until the concoction was ready. But it wasn’t sweet per se. OK, enough of the drink metaphors.

The band very much kicked in some teeth and pranced around on stage, the strings soaring and the rest of the set (from the very front of the stage at least) making its way towards a crash landing. And just when you think that your life is going to flash before your eyes, the band safely landed their craft, their instruments buzzing with electricity and life and then they just turned them off.

Sometimes they build you up just to knock you down.

Yuck performed at the Satellite on 04-13-11
